Athena Kugblenu biography

Athena Kugblenu is a British stand-up comedian, writer, voice artist and children’s author. Her writing credits include CBBC’s Horrible Histories, CBBC’s Odd Squad, CBeebies JoJo and Gran Gran, The Amelia Gething Complex and Swashbuckle.

Kugblenu also writes for television and radio comedy. Her listed credits include The Russell Howard Hour, Dara Ó Briain’s Timewasters and The Lenny Henry Show.

She co-hosts Bust or Trust?, a mystery podcast for children. Her own website also lists Keeping Athena Company, Why Does My Child Hate Me? and PROCrastinate among her podcast work.

Her children’s nonfiction book History’s Most Epic Fibs, illustrated by Nicole Miles, was published by Hachette Children’s Group in 2024. The book looks at stories from history that have been exaggerated, misunderstood or passed on as false facts.

History’s Most Epic Fails, also illustrated by Nicole Miles, was published by Hachette Children’s Group in 2025. It explores historical mistakes, accidents and failed decisions that changed what happened next.
