Angela Woolfe is a British children’s author whose work includes middle-grade fiction and picture books. She was born in Warwickshire in October 1976 and grew up in Leicestershire. Woolfe attended Oakham School, where she became head girl, before taking a drama course during a gap year and travelling in Italy and Germany. She went on to study history at Cambridge University, later completing a postgraduate course in journalism.
After work placements at The Guardian and Vogue, she joined the staff at Vogue and contributed to a book on the history of the Oscars and fashion. Woolfe’s first children’s novels formed the Avril Crump trilogy, published by Egmont: Avril Crump and Her Amazing Clones (2004), Avril Crump and the Slumber Code (2005), and Avril Crump and the Lucky Thirteen (2006).
For younger readers, she created the “Agent Llama” picture book series, illustrated by Duncan Beedie, as well as picture books such as Supersaurus: Total Tricera-Flop for Little Tiger Press. Woolfe’s middle-grade titles include the “Kingdom of the Frosty Mountains” series and the “Roxy & Jones” books published by Walker Books: Roxy & Jones: The Great Fairytale Cover-Up (2020) and Roxy & Jones: The Curse of the Gingerbread Witch (2021).
Angela Woolfe’s recent titles include The Wills and the Won’ts, published by Penguin/Viking in July 2022.
