Amie Kaufman is an Australian author known for her work in the young adult science fiction and fantasy genres. She co-authored the Starbound trilogy with Meagan Spooner, which includes the titles These Broken Stars (2013), This Shattered World (2014), and Their Fractured Light (2015). The series received critical acclaim and was noted for its engaging storytelling and character development.
Kaufman also collaborated with Jay Kristoff on the Illuminae Files series. The first book, Illuminae, was published in 2015 and was followed by Gemina (2016) and Obsidio (2018). The series is distinguished by its unique narrative style, incorporating documents, emails, and interviews to tell the story. Illuminae won the 2015 Aurealis Award for Best Science Fiction Novel.
In addition to her collaborative works, Kaufman has written solo projects, including the Elementals series. The first book, Ice Wolves, was released in 2018, followed by Scorch Dragons (2019) and Battle Born (2020). This series is aimed at middle-grade readers and explores themes of friendship and adventure.
Amie Kaufman’s books have been translated into multiple languages and have appeared on bestseller lists. Her work has been recognised with several awards, including the Gold Inky Award for Illuminae in 2016..
