Ama Ofosua Lieb is a Ghanaian-born writer whose debut young adult fantasy novel, Goldenborn, was published on 2 June 2026. Growing up in Ghana, she loved listening to stories about Anansi, the trickster spider of legend. She began writing Goldenborn after telling Anansi stories from memory and imagination at bedtime. She worked on the novel for six years and said that narrowing its cultural focus helped her find the book’s direction.
Goldenborn follows 17-year-old Akoma Addo, who investigates magical crimes in San Francisco’s AfricaTown and is drawn into a bargain with Anansi while trying to save her father. The novel is rooted in Ghanaian mythology and was published as a 416-page hardcover. Lieb has said that her reading of Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys and Sherlock Holmes shaped her love of mystery and puzzle-solving in her own writing. A specific early career milestone is the publication of Goldenborn on 2 June 2026.
