Agnès Monod-Gayraud biography

Agnes Monod-Gayraud is an award-winning author and translator, specialising in children’s nonfiction. A native New Yorker, she currently resides in London with her family. Monod-Gayraud holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature from New York University and an M.A. in American Cultural Studies from the University of Warsaw.

She has translated numerous works from French and Polish into English, focusing on topics such as science, nature, art, and folklore. Notable translations include The Book of Bees by Piotr Socha, which won the 2017 Educational Writers’ Award from the UK’s Society of Authors, and Impossible Inventions by Aleksandra and Daniel Mizielinski. Most recently, she translated an abridged edition of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry for younger readers, published by Hachette Childrens (October 2026).

In addition to her translation work, Monod-Gayraud is an author in her own right. Her debut children’s book, Faedom: Enter the World of Fairies, co-authored with Lorna White and illustrated by Nadzeya Makeyeva, was published in October 2024 by Big Picture Press. The book offers a comprehensive exploration of fairy mythology, drawing from global myths and folklore to present a detailed account of these magical beings, along with the science behind the natural realms they protect.

Monod-Gayraud’s latest book is Brilliant Sun, Luminous Moon, published in the US and the UK in September 2026, along with 7+ other territories/languages.
