Veronica Roth biography

Veronica Roth is an American author best known for her work in young adult fiction. She studied creative writing at Northwestern University. Roth’s debut novel, Divergent, was published by Katherine Tegen Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, in 2011. The novel is the first in the Divergent trilogy, which also includes Insurgent (2012) and Allegiant (2013). The trilogy is set in a dystopian future and follows the character Beatrice “Tris” Prior as she navigates a society divided into factions.

In addition to the main trilogy, Roth has written a collection of short stories set in the same universe, titled Four: A Divergent Collection, published in 2014. Roth has also authored other works for young adults, including the duology Carve the Mark (2017) and The Fates Divide (2018), both published by Katherine Tegen Books.

Veronica Roth’s writing has been recognised within the young adult literary community. In 2012, Divergent received the Goodreads Choice Award for Favourite Book and Best Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction.
