Vanessa Harbour biography

Vanessa Harbour is a British author of children’s and young adult fiction. She is known for her historical adventure novels, which often explore themes of courage and resilience. Harbour holds a PhD in Creative Writing and is a senior lecturer in creative writing at the University of Winchester.

Her debut novel, Flight, was published by Firefly Press in 2018. Set during the Second World War, the story follows a young boy and his efforts to save a group of Lipizzaner horses from the advancing Nazi forces. The novel draws on historical events and is aimed at readers aged nine and above.

Harbour’s second novel, Safe, was published by Firefly Press in 2021. This book continues to explore historical settings and the challenges faced by young people during times of conflict.

In addition to her writing, Harbour is involved in mentoring and supporting emerging writers. She has contributed to various writing workshops and events, sharing her expertise with aspiring authors.

Vanessa Harbour’s novel Flight was published by Firefly Press in 2018.
