Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Teresa Bellón is an illustrator and children’s book creator who was born in Albacete, Spain, in 1987. After completing an illustration course in Madrid, she began working for national and international clients and has exhibited her art. Her creative practice is linked to travel, illustrated books and observational drawing.
Bellón’s children’s books include board books and novelty books for very young readers. She created Splish-splash, Seahorse!, an 8-page board book in the Snappers series published on 1 September 2018, and her own titles include Who’s There, Little Lion?, Who’s There, Little Elf?, Who’s There, Little Bear?, Who’s There, Little Pumpkin?, Christmas and Planes, Trains, and Cars.
Her illustration work includes children’s nonfiction and picture books by other writers. She illustrated Frida Kahlo by Alice Harman in the Pop-Up Life Stories for Kids series, and she illustrated Leonardo da Vinci, Henri Matisse and Vincent van Gogh by Susie Hodge. She also illustrated People Shapes by Heidi E. Y. Stemple, published on 25 May 2021, and Wake Up, Trucks! by Jodie Parachini, published on 7 March 2023.
Bellón has illustrated books that introduce art, science, families and vehicles to young readers. Her work on Vincent van Gogh: A Pop-Up Book by Susie Hodge appears in a 10-page hardback about the artist’s life and paintings, published on 31 October 2024.
