Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Tahereh Mafi is a young adult and children’s author. Her debut novel, Shatter Me, was published by HarperCollins on 15 November 2011.
Mafi’s middle grade novels Furthermore (2016) and Whichwood (2017) were published as companion titles. Her contemporary YA novel A Very Large Expanse of Sea was published in October 2018, and was longlisted for the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature in 2018.
In 2022, she began the fantasy series This Woven Kingdom, followed by These Infinite Threads (2023) and All This Twisted Glory (2024).
HarperCollins Publishers announced a new series set in the Shatter Me universe, titled The New Republic, launching with Watch Me, published in the UK on 15 April 2025.
