Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Sarah Craiggs is a UK children’s author of non-fiction and activity books. Her work focuses on wordplay, general knowledge and curriculum-friendly topics for primary readers, presenting information in short, well-structured sections with clear signposting.
Craiggs has written more than thirty titles for children, contributing to series and stand-alone books commissioned for schools, libraries and family reading. Her approach pairs concise explanations with visual features designed to build vocabulary and confidence.
Her best-known book, Curious Words for Clever Kids (Hodder Children’s Books, 17 August 2023), is an illustrated tour of over 1,000 unusual and useful words across subjects from animals and space to food and colour. The title is illustrated by Fiona Powers and is available in paperback and ebook formats.
Alongside word books and fact collections, Craiggs develops activity-led content aimed at supporting independent learning and classroom projects.
