Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Robert Winston is a British professor, medical doctor, scientist, and author. He is known for his work in reproductive medicine and science communication. Winston has written several books for children and young adults, focusing on science and the human body. His titles include Utterly Amazing Science (2014), published by DK, which won the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize in 2015. Other works include Ask a Scientist (2019), My Amazing Body Machine (2017), and Maker Lab (2016), all published by DK. Winston has also presented numerous science programmes for the BBC, including The Human Body and Child of Our Time. He was awarded the Michael Faraday Award by the Royal Society in 2004 for excellence in communicating science to the public. Winston is a Fellow of the Royal Society and a member of the House of Lords. His book Utterly Amazing Science received the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize in 2015.
