Richard Jones is a British children’s illustrator and picture-book author whose layered textures and gentle palettes have led to collaborations with major UK and US publishers. After graduating with a first-class degree in graphic design and illustration and completing a PhD, he worked for several years in a children’s library before focusing on picture books.
His illustration credits include Jim Helmore’s The Snow Lion and Paper Planes for Simon & Schuster, Alice B. McGinty’s A Story for Small Bear, Karen Frisella’s Whale in a Fishbowl, and Meg Fleming’s Wondering Around. He has also illustrated Tom Percival’s Quiet for Simon & Schuster Children’s UK.
Jones made his author-illustrator debut with Perdu, published by Simon & Schuster Children’s UK and by Peachtree in the US, followed by his standalone picture book Little Bear for Simon & Schuster.
He was nominated for the Ezra Jack Keats Award for New Illustrator in 2019.
