Rebecca F. Kuang biography

Rebecca F. Kuang writes as R. F. Kuang. Her first novel, The Poppy War, was published in 2018 and began a fantasy trilogy continued in The Dragon Republic and The Burning God.

Kuang studied at Georgetown University, the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, and was a Marshall Scholar. Her academic background includes Chinese studies, contemporary Chinese studies and East Asian languages and literature.

Her novel Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence was published by Harper Voyager in 2022. It won the Nebula Award for Best Novel and reached number one on the New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list.

Yellowface, published in 2023, is a literary thriller about authorship, publishing and the theft of a manuscript. The University of Oxford recorded that Yellowface entered The Sunday Times bestseller list at number one and also appeared on the New York Times bestseller list.

Yellowface was published in paperback by HarperCollins in the UK on 9 May 2024.
