Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Rachel Lawston is a British author and illustrator known for her work in children’s picture books. She has a background in graphic design and has worked in the publishing industry, including roles in book design and art direction. Lawston is the author of several nature-themed picture books, including Finn’s Garden Friends and Mole’s Spectacles, both published by Pikku Publishing. Her books often explore themes of nature, wildlife, and outdoor discovery, aiming to encourage children to engage with the natural world.
In addition to writing and illustrating, Lawston has collaborated with other authors and illustrators. She illustrated Georgie Grows a Dragon, written by Emma Lazell, and has contributed to educational resources and workshops for children, focusing on nature and environmental awareness.
Rachel Lawston’s book Finn’s Garden Friends was published by Pikku Publishing in 2021.
