Rachel Bright biography

Rachel Bright is a British author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature. She studied at Kingston University, where she earned a degree in Graphic Communication, and later completed a postgraduate course in Printmaking at the University of the West of England. Bright has written and illustrated numerous picture books, often collaborating with other illustrators and authors.

Among her most recognised works is The Lion Inside, illustrated by Jim Field and published by Orchard Books in 2015. This title is part of a series that includes The Koala Who Could, The Squirrels Who Squabbled, and The Whale Who Wanted More, all illustrated by Jim Field. These books have been widely used in schools and libraries.

Bright has also created the Love Monster series, which she both wrote and illustrated. The first book, Love Monster, was published by HarperCollins Children’s Books in 2012. The series has expanded to include several sequels, such as Love Monster and the Perfect Present and Love Monster and the Scary Something.

In addition to her picture books, Rachel Bright has written poetry and greeting cards, and her work has been published by major UK publishers including HarperCollins and Orchard Books. Her books have been recognised by various awards, including the Oscar’s Book Prize, which The Koala Who Could won in 2017.
