Peter Goes is a Belgian author and illustrator, known for his work in children’s literature. He studied animation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. Goes has worked as a stage manager and illustrator before focusing on creating books for children.
His debut picture book, Timeline: A Visual History of Our World, was first published in 2015 by Gecko Press. The book presents world history through detailed illustrations and has been translated into several languages. Timeline received critical acclaim and was included in the New York Times Best Illustrated Children’s Books of 2015.
Goes has published other illustrated works, including Rivers: A Visual History from River to Sea (2018) and Timeline Activity Book (2016). His books are characterised by intricate artwork and factual content, often exploring historical and scientific themes.
In 2019, Rivers was shortlisted for the Information Book Award by the School Library Association. Peter Goes continues to publish illustrated non-fiction for children, with his works available in multiple countries and languages.
