Nick Butterworth biography

Nick Butterworth is a British author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He began his career as a graphic designer before moving into publishing. Butterworth has written and illustrated numerous picture books, many of which have become well recognised in the UK and internationally.

One of his most notable creations is the Percy the Park Keeper series, which features the adventures of a kind-hearted park keeper and his animal friends. The first book in the series, One Snowy Night, was published in 1989 by HarperCollins. The series has since expanded to include several titles, all written and illustrated by Butterworth.

In addition to the Percy the Park Keeper books, Butterworth has produced other works such as Q Pootle 5, which follows the adventures of a friendly alien. Q Pootle 5 was published by HarperCollins in 1999. Butterworth has also collaborated with Mick Inkpen, co-creating the Wonderful Earth! picture book.

Butterworth’s books have been published by major publishers including HarperCollins and Walker Books. His work is recognised for its gentle humour and detailed illustrations, appealing to young children and families.

In 2013, Nick Butterworth’s book Q Pootle 5 was adapted into an animated television series, further extending the reach of his stories.
