Natasha Wing biography

Natasha Wing is a children’s author born in Milford, Connecticut, in 1960. She completed a BS in advertising at Arizona State University in 1982. In 1991 she decided to write children’s books, and she sold her first book, Hippity Hop, Frog on Top, within six months.

Wing writes children’s books and articles. Her The Night Before series began with The Night Before Easter and uses a rhyming style connected to Clement C. Moore’s classic holiday poem. The series is aimed at young readers and covers familiar childhood occasions, school milestones and holidays.

The Night Before Kindergarten, illustrated by Julie Durrell, was published by Grosset & Dunlap on 9 July 2001 as a 32-page paperback for preschool to Year 3 readers. The story follows children preparing for their first day of kindergarten, including packing supplies, taking pictures and saying goodbye to parents.

Her later school-themed titles include The Night Before Preschool, illustrated by Amy Wummer and published by Grosset & Dunlap on 12 May 2011 as a 32-page paperback, and The Night Before Kindergarten Graduation, illustrated by Amy Wummer and published by Grosset & Dunlap on 9 April 2019 as a 32-page paperback.

Wing has also written holiday books in the same series, including The Night Before Father’s Day, illustrated by Amy Wummer and published by Grosset & Dunlap on 10 May 2012. The Night Before the Day of the Dead, written with Gloria García Díaz and illustrated by Nathalie Beauvois, is scheduled for publication by Grosset & Dunlap on 14 July 2026.
