Lê holds a background in education and policy, and his writing frequently explores themes of family, identity, and cultural heritage.
Among his notable works is Drawn Together, illustrated by Dan Santat and published by Disney-Hyperion in 2018. This picture book tells the story of a young boy and his grandfather as they bridge a language gap through art. Drawn Together received the 2019 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature for Picture Book and was recognised for its exploration of intergenerational relationships.
Lê is also the author of Let Me Finish!, illustrated by Isabel Roxas and published by Disney-Hyperion in 2016. In 2020, Lê published The Perfect Seat, illustrated by Gus Gordon, and Lift, illustrated by Dan Santat, both with Disney-Hyperion. Lift tells the story of a girl who discovers a magical elevator button, embarking on imaginative adventures.
In addition to picture books, Minh Lê wrote the graphic novel Green Lantern: Legacy, illustrated by Andie Tong and published by DC Comics in 2020. This middle-grade graphic novel introduces a new Vietnamese-American Green Lantern, Tai Pham, and explores themes of legacy and heroism.
Minh Lê’s books have been published by major publishers including Disney-Hyperion, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, and DC Comics. He has contributed to anthologies and has been involved in literacy advocacy and educational initiatives.
