Meredith Costain biography

Meredith Costain is an Australian children’s author whose published work includes picture books, poetry, chapter books, series fiction, educational titles and narrative nonfiction.

Her picture books include Musical Harriet, Doodledum Dancing, Bed Tails, Daddies are Great! and Mummies are Amazing!. Her fiction for younger readers includes the Ella Diaries series, the Olivia’s Secret Scribbles series and books in the Bindi: Behind the Scenes series.

Costain has also written books connected with television series, including Dance Academy titles and Heartbreak High novelisations. Her nonfiction work includes 50 Famous Australians, It’s True: Hauntings Happen and Ghosts Get Grumpy and several animal titles in the My Life in the Wild series.

You Wouldn’t Want to Be a Convict Sent to Australia!, illustrated by David Antram and created and designed by David Salariya, is part of the You Wouldn’t Want to Be history series. The book places the reader in the role of an eighteenth-century convict transported to Australia.
