Matthew Burton biography

Matthew Burton writes school-support non-fiction for young readers under the name Mr Matthew Burton. He is a headteacher and English teacher, and he became known to young audiences through Channel 4’s documentary series Educating Yorkshire.

Go Big is his secondary school survival guide for readers from around age 10, covering friendship, confidence, homework, exams and the move from primary to secondary school. The paperback edition of Go Big went on sale on 20 February 2020, and the downloadable audiobook, read by Matthew Burton, went on sale on 21 May 2020.

Back On Track is his motivational school handbook for secondary students navigating uncertain times, assessments, change and disrupted learning. The teacher and librarian notes identify the book as suitable for children aged 12+, with classroom discussion themes including bravery, motivation, routine, mental health and hope.

How to Ace Your Exams is his study and revision guide for readers from around age 12, with sections on mastering topics, building study habits, memorising information, managing performance and keeping calm before exams. The ebook edition of How to Ace Your Exams went on sale on 15 August 2024.
