Lu Hersey biography

Lu Hersey is a British author known for her work in young adult fiction. She studied English at the University of Exeter. Hersey’s writing often explores themes of folklore, myth, and the supernatural, drawing on her interest in Cornish legends and Celtic mythology.

Her debut novel, Deep Water, was published by Usborne in 2015. The story follows a teenager named Danni who uncovers family secrets and local legends after moving to a remote Cornish village. Deep Water won the Mslexia Children’s Novel Competition in 2012, prior to its publication, and was also longlisted for the Branford Boase Award in 2016.

Hersey has contributed short stories to anthologies and has been involved in creative writing workshops for young people. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).

Her debut novel, Deep Water, was published by Usborne in 2015.
