Lisa Bullard writes books for children, including fiction, picture books and nonfiction. Her work includes the middle-grade mystery Turn Left at the Cow and the children’s writing guide You Can Write a Story: A Story-Writing Recipe for Kids. She is also the author of Get Started in Writing for Children.
Her books for younger readers include Trick-or-Treat on Milton Street, My Family, Your Family, My Religion, Your Religion and Marvelous Me: Inside and Out. My Family, Your Family follows Makayla as she visits friends and compares different kinds of families. My Religion, Your Religion follows David as he learns about similarities and differences between religions.
Bullard has written environmental nonfiction for children in the Planet Protectors series. Earth Day Every Day, illustrated by Xin Zheng, was published on 1 July 2011 and introduces reducing, reusing and recycling through Trina and her classmates. Watch Over Our Water, also part of the Planet Protectors series, was published on 1 August 2011 and focuses on caring for Earth’s water.
Bullard has taught writing classes for adults and young people for more than fifteen years, and she is a graduate of the University of Denver’s Publishing Institute. Grace’s Thanksgiving, illustrated by Katie Saunders, was published on 1 January 2012.
