Lindsay Galvin is a British author known for her children’s and young adult fiction, particularly historical adventure novels that often incorporate elements of science and the natural world. Before becoming a full-time writer, Galvin spent two decades teaching, specialising in science education for the latter ten years of her career.
Galvin holds a degree in English Language and Literature and has a longstanding interest in psychology and the natural sciences. Her passion for the sea and marine life is evident, having spent significant time scuba diving in Thailand. She now resides on the south coast of England with her husband and two sons.
Her debut novel, The Secret Deep, was published in 2018. She has since authored several middle-grade novels, including Darwin’s Dragons, My Friend the Octopus, Call of the Titanic, and The Great Phoenix of London. These works are noted for blending historical facts with imaginative storytelling.
In addition to her novels, Galvin has written books aimed at emerging readers, such as Professor Snagglewit’s Diary of Magical Creatures, Greek Sports, Magnet Man and Me, Lily Parr Scores, and Red Planet Rescue. Her novella The Elixir, which intertwines history, witchcraft, and chemistry, was published by Barrington Stoke in June 2025.
Galvin is represented by Clare Wallace at Darley Anderson and continues to engage with educational communities through school visits and writing workshops.
