Laura E. Weymouth is a Canadian-American author known for her young adult fantasy novels. She grew up in Canada and later moved to the United States. Weymouth’s writing often explores themes of family, identity, and the boundaries between worlds, drawing on her interest in history and folklore.
Her debut novel, The Light Between Worlds, was published by HarperTeen in 2018. The book tells the story of two sisters who struggle to adjust to life after returning from a magical realm, and it has been noted for its exploration of trauma and belonging. Weymouth’s second novel, A Treason of Thorns, was released by HarperTeen in 2019. This standalone fantasy centres on a girl’s connection to a magical house and her quest to save it, blending elements of historical fiction and magical realism.
Weymouth continued her exploration of fantasy with A Rush of Wings, published by Margaret K. McElderry Books in 2021. This novel draws inspiration from Scottish folklore and follows a young woman who discovers her own strength while navigating a world of fae and magic. In 2022, she published A Consuming Fire, also with Margaret K. McElderry Books, which reimagines the story of a vengeful pilgrimage in a world shaped by prophecy and secrets.
Weymouth’s books have been recognised for their lyrical prose and atmospheric settings. Her debut, The Light Between Worlds, was a finalist for the 2018 William C. Morris YA Debut Award.
