Lara Bryan studied English and Italian at Oxford University. She taught in Italy and Myanmar before becoming a writer for Usborne Publishing.

Bryan has written about economics, business and psychology for young readers. Psychology for Beginners, written with Rosie Hore and Eddie Reynolds, is a 128-page hardcover introduction to psychology that was published on 31 March 2022.
She has also adapted stories for early readers. Farmyard Tales: Surprise Visitors names Lara Bryan as the adaptor, Heather Amery as author and Stephen Cartwright as illustrator, and describes the story as rewritten with reading experts for the Usborne Reading Programme, First Reading Level 2.
Her lift-the-flap and board-book work includes Look Inside Jobs, illustrated by Wesley Robins and published by Usborne Books on 12 May 2020, and Peep Inside How a Recycling Truck Works, published by Usborne Publishing Ltd on 4 March 2021.
