Kirsten Hall is a children’s author, editor and literary agent. A former preschool and elementary school teacher, she has written more than a hundred learn-to-read stories and later founded Catbird Productions, a boutique children’s book illustration and literary agency.
Hall’s picture books include The Jacket, illustrated by Dasha Tolstikova, a metafictional story about a child and a much-loved book; The Gold Leaf, illustrated by Matthew Forsythe, which explores appreciation and community in a forest setting; and The Honeybee, illustrated by Isabelle Arsenault, a rhyming introduction to pollinators that has been recognised by state and poetry awards.
Her later titles include Snow Birds, illustrated by Jenni Desmond, a nature-themed picture book about species that withstand winter, and The Monarch, a companion to The Honeybee with illustrations by Isabelle Arsenault that celebrates the migration and lifecycle of monarch butterflies.
The Jacket was selected as a New York Times Notable Children’s Book of 2014.
