Kathleen Converse is an American children’s author and former elementary school teacher who holds a master’s degree in social work. She is the author of the Wheel of the Year picture book series, published by Moon Dust Press and illustrated by Hanna Sultanova.
The series began with Flora & the First Day of Spring in 2022. The story follows Flora as difficulties disrupt her spring equinox activities and she uses grounding and breathing techniques to manage her emotions. It was followed by Luke & the Longest Night, centred on winter solstice celebrations, and Sam & the Samhain Scare, which introduces traditions associated with Samhain. The books combine fictional stories with illustrated activities and factual material about seasonal celebrations.
Fern & the First Day of Fall, the fourth book in the series, was published by Moon Dust Press in 2026. It follows Fern as problems with her autumn harvest lead her to seek help from her community while preparing for an equinox feast. Further titles in the series include Brynn & the Beltane Dance, illustrated by Hanna Sultanova and scheduled for publication in 2027.
