Katherine Woodfine is a British author known for her historical fiction for children and young readers. She studied English at the University of Manchester. Woodfine has worked in the book industry, including a role at BookTrust, where she was involved in projects such as the Children’s Laureate and the Blue Peter Book Awards.
Her debut novel, The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow, was published by Egmont in 2015. This book is the first in the Sinclair’s Mysteries series, which follows the adventures of Sophie and her friends in Edwardian London. The series includes further titles: The Mystery of the Jewelled Moth (2016), The Mystery of the Painted Dragon (2017), and The Mystery of the Midnight Peacock (2017).
Woodfine is also the author of the Taylor & Rose Secret Agents series, which continues the story of characters from the Sinclair’s Mysteries. The first book in this series, Peril in Paris, was published in 2018, followed by Spies in St Petersburg (2019), Villains in Venice (2019), and Nightfall in New York (2021).
In addition to her novels, Woodfine has contributed to anthologies and has written shorter fiction for children. She has also been involved in promoting children’s literature through events and festivals.
