Kate Rolfe biography

Kate Rolfe is a UK author and illustrator specialising in children’s picture books. She studied Animation at Plymouth College of Art, then earned a BA (Hons) in Film Production from Northern Film School. Later, she completed an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art in 2022.

In addition to writing and illustrating, Rolfe works in textile design, teaches illustration, and leads drawing and writing workshops online. She is represented by Neil Dunnicliffe at Spring Literary.

Her debut picture book, Wolf and Bear, was published by Two Hoots. The book uses the cyanotype process combined with crayon, pastel and digital drawing techniques.

Rolfe won the World Illustration Award for New Talent in Children’s Publishing in 2024 for Wiggling Words. She also received the Student Illustrator of the Year award from the V&A Illustration Awards in 2022 for the same project.

She was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2024 and longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize 2024 for Wolf and Bear.
