Jonny Duddle is a British author and illustrator of children’s books. He studied illustration at the University of Wolverhampton and worked in the entertainment industry on projects including computer games, animation and concept art for film.
Duddle’s first picture book, The Pirate Cruncher, was published by Templar in 2009. He followed this with The Pirates Next Door in 2011, which won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the picture book category in 2012. Other titles include The King of Space (2013) and Gigantosaurus (2014), which was later adapted into an animated television series.
In 2014, Duddle was commissioned by Bloomsbury to illustrate new children’s editions of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, starting with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. His cover artwork and illustrations reintroduced the series to a new generation of readers.
His books are published internationally and have been translated into several languages. Duddle received the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the picture book category for The Pirates Next Door.
