John Feinstein biography

John Feinstein was an American sportswriter, author and sports commentator. He wrote sports books for adult readers, including A Season on the Brink, A Good Walk Spoiled, The Legends Club and Where Nobody Knows Your Name. His journalism career included writing for The Washington Post and Golf Digest, and his broadcast work included contributions to the Golf Channel, Comcast Sports Regional Networks and SiriusXM Radio. He died in 2025.

Feinstein also wrote sports mysteries for younger readers. His series included The Sports Beat, with books such as Last Shot: A Final Four Mystery and Rush for the Gold: Mystery at the Olympics, and The Triple Threat, which includes The Walk On, The Sixth Man and The DH.

Last Shot won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for mystery writing in the Young Adult category. Feinstein wrote forty-five books, including A Season on the Brink and A Good Walk Spoiled.
