John David Anderson biography

John David Anderson is an American author of middle-grade fiction. He studied at Indiana University and the University of Illinois before publishing his first children’s novel, Standard Hero Behavior, with Clarion Books in 2007.

His books include Sidekicked, Minion, The Dungeoneers, Ms. Bixby’s Last Day, Insert Coin to Continue, Posted, Granted, Finding Orion, One Last Shot, Stowaway, Riley’s Ghost, Homebound and The Greatest Kid in the World.

Ms. Bixby’s Last Day, published by Walden Pond Press in 2016, follows three boys who leave school to visit a teacher after learning that she is seriously ill. HarperCollins lists the book as a New York Times Notable Book.

Posted, published by Walden Pond Press in 2017, is set in a school where pupils begin leaving sticky-note messages after mobile phones are banned. Stowaway, published in 2021, is a science-fiction adventure and the first book in The Icarus Chronicles.

One Last Shot was published by Walden Pond Press, an imprint of HarperCollins, on 5 May 2020.
