Jo Rioux is a writer-illustrator and artist for graphic novels for young readers. She studied art at Sheridan College after high school.
Rioux illustrated The Daughters of Ys, written by M. T. Anderson and published by First Second. The 208-page graphic novel went on sale on 11 August 2020 and retells a classic Breton folktale set in the legendary city of Ys.
Cat’s Cradle: The Golden Twine was Rioux’s debut as a writer-illustrator in a fantasy-adventure graphic novel trilogy. First Second published the 128-page children’s book on 21 June 2022 for readers aged 8 to 12.
The trilogy comprises Cat’s Cradle: The Golden Twine, Cat’s Cradle: The Mole King’s Lair and Cat’s Cradle: Suri’s Dragon.
Cat’s Cradle: The Mole King’s Lair was published by First Second on 20 June 2023 as volume 2 of the trilogy. Cat’s Cradle: Suri’s Dragon was published by First Second on 19 November 2024 as volume 3 and the conclusion of the middle-grade fantasy graphic novel trilogy.
