Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Jenni Sheward is a Scottish illustrator. She completed an HNC in Contemporary Art Practice at Glasgow Clyde College in 2018 and an HND in Illustration at the same college in 2020. She studied Illustration BDes (Hons) at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design from 2020 to 2024.
Sheward works with traditional and digital media. Her portfolio includes illustration linked to mythology, folklore, history and the natural world. Her Creatures of Alba project began as a university project and was developed as an illustrated book inspired by bestiary manuscripts.
Her exhibition record includes Craftex at The Trades House of Glasgow in 2019, On the Record at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2023, and her Degree Show at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2024. In 2025, her listed exhibitions included Burns Squared at Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and the Dementia Arts Trust Exhibition at The Cut Sark Centre.
Sheward’s listed publications include The Bleeds Summer 2025 Edition and The Bleeds Autumn 2025 Edition, both published by CatGut Collective. In 2026, she was shortlisted for the Kelpies Prize for Illustration.
