Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Jakub Bachorík is an illustrator and visual artist whose work spans sculpture, painting, graphics, scenography and interior design. He has taken part in numerous exhibitions in Slovakia and internationally.
Bachorík illustrated Bridges, a children’s non-fiction book written by Magda Garguláková. The book introduces young readers to bridge-building, from natural and early bridges to modern engineering, and includes structural drawings, engineering explanations, examples of well-known bridges and hands-on activity content suitable for design and technology or science teaching.
Bridges was published by Post Wave Publishing in 2025 for readers aged 7 to 9, with a reading age of 7+. A US edition from Post Wave has a publication date of 8 April 2025, 64 pages and an age range of 9 to 11 years.
