Isabella Bunnell is an illustrator and children’s book creator. She wrote and illustrated Disappearing Acts: A Search-and-Find Book of Endangered Animals, a 32-page picture book published in 2016. The book invites children to find endangered animals hidden in illustrated habitats including rainforest, savannah, coral reef, mountains and skies.
Disappearing Acts combines search-and-find pages with animal information. Its factual sections describe the featured species, their habitats, their remaining numbers and reasons for endangerment, making it relevant for classroom work on animals, habitats, biodiversity and conservation.
Bunnell illustrated Iced Out, a picture book written by C K Smouha and published by Cicada Books in 2019. The book is for children aged 6 to 8, with a reading age of 6+, and follows Wilfred the Narwhal, Neville the Walrus and Betty the Beluga at Miss Blubber’s School for Arctic Mammals.
Iced Out uses Arctic animal characters to explore friendship, confidence, fitting in and independence. Bunnell’s role on the book was as illustrator, and the 32-page eBook edition was published by Cicada Books on 29 March 2021.
Bunnell’s other books include Vajournal: An Interactive Diary for Feminists, published by Cicada in 2017.
