Irene Vasco is a Colombian author, bookseller, and reading promoter, known for her contributions to children’s literature. She has written numerous books for young readers, often focusing on themes of literacy, cultural heritage, and the power of stories. Vasco has also worked extensively to promote reading in rural and urban communities across Colombia, conducting workshops and literacy campaigns.
Her works include La señora de la esquina, Conjuros y sortilegios, and El lápiz de labios del Rey. Vasco’s books are published in Spanish and have been included in reading lists and educational programmes in Latin America. She is recognised for her efforts to make literature accessible to children from diverse backgrounds and for her advocacy of reading as a tool for social change.
In 2022, Irene Vasco’s book Expreso a la luna was published by Ediciones SM.
