Ian Whybrow is a British author known for his work in children’s literature. He has written numerous books for young readers, including picture books, poetry, and fiction for early readers and older children. Whybrow’s writing career began after he worked as a teacher and head of English, which influenced his approach to storytelling and language.
Among his most recognised works is the Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs series, which follows the adventures of a young boy and his toy dinosaurs. The first book in this series was published in 1999 by Puffin. The series has been illustrated by Adrian Reynolds. Whybrow has also written the Little Wolf series, beginning with Little Wolf’s Book of Badness, published by HarperCollins Children’s Books in 1995 and illustrated by Tony Ross.
Ian Whybrow’s books have been published by several major UK publishers, including Puffin, HarperCollins, and Hodder Children’s Books. His stories often feature humour and imaginative scenarios, appealing to a wide range of young readers. In addition to series fiction, Whybrow has written standalone picture books and poetry collections for children.
His book Little Wolf’s Book of Badness was shortlisted for the Smarties Prize in 1996.
