Ian Beck biography

Ian Beck is a British author and illustrator known for his contributions to children’s literature. He studied illustration at Brighton College of Art and began his career working in advertising and as a freelance illustrator. Beck has illustrated numerous book covers, including the cover for Elton John’s album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

He is the author and illustrator of several picture books, with his debut, Round and Round the Garden, published in 1982. Beck is also recognised for his work on the Tom Trueheart series, which includes The Secret History of Tom Trueheart and its sequels. His books often feature fairy tale and adventure themes, appealing to a wide range of young readers.

In addition to his own writing, Beck has illustrated works by other authors, such as The Orchard Book of Fairy Tales by Rose Impey. His illustrations are noted for their detailed and imaginative style.

Ian Beck’s book The Secret History of Tom Trueheart was published by Oxford University Press in 2006.
