Graham Burgess biography

Graham K. Burgess is an English chess FIDE Master, writer and trainer. He became a FIDE Master at the age of twenty. In 1989 he graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in mathematics.

In 1994 Burgess set a world record by playing 510 games of blitz chess in three days, winning 431 games and drawing 25. He has written more than twenty books and edited more than 250. He is the editorial director of Gambit Publications.

Burgess wrote The Mammoth Book of Chess, which won the British Chess Federation Book of the Year Award in 1997. His chess books include Chess Highlights of the 20th Century: The Best Chess 1900-1999 in Historical Context, a year-by-year survey of chess events, achievements and games.

The Mammoth Book of the World’s Greatest Chess Games was written by Graham Burgess, John Nunn and John Emms, and was published on 27 August 1998. New Classical King’s Indian, written by John Nunn and Graham Burgess, was published on 1 April 1997.
