Gerda Muller biography

Gerda Muller is a Dutch picture-book creator whose work for young children includes wordless board books and illustrated picture books about nature, seasons and traditional stories. Her Seasons board books include Spring, Summer and Winter; Spring shows activities such as playing with lambs, sowing seeds, painting Easter eggs and watching baby birds, while Summer shows fishing for tadpoles, playing at the beach, eating ice cream and evening picnics.

A Year Around the Great Oak was written and illustrated by Muller and had a US release date of 1 July 2013. The picture book follows Benjamin and Anna as they visit their cousin Robin through the year and return to the same oak tree in autumn, winter, spring and summer.

Muller has also worked with classic and fairy-tale material. The Town Musicians of Bremen is a 32-page hardcover retelling of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale, with Muller’s illustrations accompanying the story of a donkey, dog, cat and rooster travelling towards Bremen.

Her other books include A Year in Our New Garden, a 36-page hardcover about Anna and Benjamin moving to a new home, planning a garden, growing flowers and vegetables, and learning about wildlife through the seasons. Whose Footprints Are These? is a 36-page hardcover wordless picture book in which footprints and pawprints guide children through a snowy winter day, and its stated publication date is 1 November 2002.
