Gerard Siggins is an Irish author known for his children’s books, particularly those centred on sports themes. Before becoming a writer of fiction, Siggins worked as a journalist. He has contributed to several publications, including The Sunday Tribune.
Siggins is best known for the Rugby Spirit series, which follows the adventures of a young rugby player named Eoin Madden. The first book in the series, Rugby Spirit, was published by O’Brien Press in 2011. The series blends contemporary sports action with elements of history and the supernatural, as Eoin encounters the ghosts of famous rugby players from the past. Subsequent titles in the series include Rugby Warrior, Rugby Rebel, Rugby Flyer, Rugby Runner, Rugby Chancer, and Rugby Heroes.
In addition to the rugby series, Siggins has written other sports-themed books for young readers, such as Soccer Spirit and Gaelic Spirit, also published by O’Brien Press. His work often aims to engage children with stories that combine sporting action and Irish heritage.
