Gavin Extence is a British author known for his work in contemporary fiction for both adults and younger readers. He studied English at the University of Sheffield. Extence’s debut novel, The Universe Versus Alex Woods, was published by Hodder & Stoughton in 2013. The book follows the story of a teenager named Alex Woods and explores themes of friendship, mortality, and personal growth.
Following his first novel, Extence published The Mirror World of Melody Black in 2015, also with Hodder & Stoughton. This novel centres on a young journalist and addresses issues related to mental health. Extence’s writing is characterised by its focus on complex characters and thought-provoking themes.
His debut novel, The Universe Versus Alex Woods, won the Waterstones 11 literary prize in 2013.
