Frances Cony biography

Frances Cony is a children’s book creator associated with illustrated and interactive books for young readers. Her work includes illustration for Hatch, Egg, Hatch!, a touch-and-feel action flap book written by Shen Roddie and published in 1991.

Cony also illustrated How My Body Works by Althea, a 24-page paperback published in 1990. She illustrated If You Were a Rabbit by Carol Watson, a children’s book about the care and feeding of rabbits, published in 1990.

Her picture-book and novelty-book work includes Chicken Pox!, written by Shen Roddie and published in 1993. The book follows Baby Chick after he wakes with red spots and uses lift-the-flap elements as part of the story experience.

Cony wrote Old Macdonald Had a Farm, a pop-up version of the traditional song illustrated by Iain Smyth. The book was published on 1 March 1999 and is identified for children aged 2 to 5.
