Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Erica Harrison is a children’s book designer and illustrator from the UK. She has a degree in Graphic Arts and Design, and after graduating she worked for Usborne Publishing in London.
Harrison wrote and illustrated ABC for Me: ABC Helpful Me: Learn all the ways you can be a helper–from A to Z!, a 32-page board book in the ABC for Me series. It was published by Walter Foster Jr. on 4 October 2022 and uses alphabet prompts to introduce young children to practical ways of helping at home, at school and in the community.
Harrison illustrated Detective Stanley and the Mystery at the Museum, written by Hannah Tunnicliffe and published by Flying Eye Books Ltd. on 4 February 2025. The 64-page graphic reader is part of the Detective Stanley series and follows a detective dog investigating a raid at an art museum.
Her forthcoming activity title The Boring Drawing Book is a 96-page paperback scheduled for publication on 18 August 2026. The book contains more than 70 drawing activities that invite children to add doodles, designs and details to everyday prompts.
