Éric Veillé biography

Éric Veillé is a French author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He studied at the École supérieure des arts appliqués Duperré in Paris. Veillé has written and illustrated several picture books, many of which have been translated into English and other languages.

His notable works include Encyclopedia of Grannies and My Pictures after the Storm, both published in English by Gecko Press. My Pictures after the Storm was originally published in French as Après la tempête and was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal in 2018. Veillé’s books are recognised for their humour and inventive visual style.

He has collaborated with other authors, including Jean Leroy, and his illustrations have appeared in a range of children’s titles. Veillé’s books have been published by several French and international publishers, including Actes Sud Junior and Gecko Press.

In 2017, My Pictures after the Storm was selected for the White Ravens list by the International Youth Library in Munich. His work continues to be published and translated internationally.
