Eric Fan is a Canadian author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He collaborates frequently with his brother, Terry Fan. Together, they have created several acclaimed picture books.
Their debut book, The Night Gardener, was published in 2016 by Simon & Schuster. This book received critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Illustrated Books. It also won the Dilys Evans Founders Award from the Society of Illustrators.
Following the success of their first book, the Fan brothers released Ocean Meets Sky in 2018. This book was also well-received and was named a New York Times Best Illustrated Children’s Book.
In 2019, they published The Scarecrow, written by Beth Ferry and illustrated by the Fan brothers. This book was praised for its evocative illustrations and storytelling.
Eric Fan’s work is characterised by intricate illustrations and imaginative storytelling, often blending elements of fantasy and reality. His books have been translated into multiple languages, reaching a global audience.
In 2020, the Fan brothers released The Barnabus Project, which won the Governor General’s Literary Award for Young People’s Literature – Illustrated Books in 2020.
