Emily Critchley is a British author known for her work in children’s and young adult fiction. Her debut novel, Notes on My Family, was published by Everything with Words in 2017. The book was shortlisted for the Costa Children’s Book Award in 2017 and the Branford Boase Award in 2018. It was also longlisted for the Carnegie Medal and the UKLA Book Award.
Critchley’s second novel, New Girl, was published by Everything with Words in 2020. Her writing has been recognised for its distinctive narrative voice and has received critical attention within the UK children’s literature community.
Emily Critchley holds an MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University. She has also published poetry and short fiction in various literary journals. Her novel Notes on My Family was selected as a Times Children’s Book of the Week in 2017.
Her most recent novel, One Puzzling Afternoon, was published by Zaffre in 2023.
