Eloise Smith is a British author of children’s fiction. She is the writer of the Libby series, which includes Libby and the Parisian Puzzle (2022) and Libby and the Highland Heist (2022), both published by Chicken House. Smith’s books are aimed at middle-grade readers and feature mystery and adventure themes. Prior to her writing career, Smith worked in advertising and as a creative director. She is a former Olympic fencer, having competed for Great Britain at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Smith’s debut novel, Libby and the Parisian Puzzle, was selected as a Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month in March 2022. Her work has been published in the United Kingdom by Chicken House, an imprint known for children’s literature.

Winner Takes Gold is is an enjoyable read. As an adventure story for someone who enjoys reading anything sport-related, this could very well hit the spot. The lengths some will go to in pursuit of perfection were scarily detailed.
